UGC NET Paper 1 Mathematical Reasoning: Detailed Study Notes

Unit 5 carries about five questions (ten marks) and is the easiest unit to score in if you drill formulas and shortcuts. The notes follow the official syllabus: types of reasoning, number and letter series, coding and relationships, then the arithmetic topics. Every topic is built the same way: the concept in plain words, the formulas, tricks, worked examples and the traps examiners set. Do the quick topics (series, coding, relations) first in the exam, and practise the arithmetic topics with a timer.

How to use these notes

  1. Round 1: LearnStart at Topic 0 for the exam pattern and time strategy, then go in order. Read each concept, then solve the worked examples on paper before reading the solution.
  2. Round 2: ReviseSwitch on Revision mode on any topic page to keep only the formulas, tricks and tables. Re-do the traps list of every topic you got wrong in MCQs.
  3. Last week: RecallUse the rapid-recall formula sheet and Topic 17 (ten costly mistakes, seven-day plan, last-minute checklist), then practise MCQs topic by topic.
